Long story short: My family and I will be heading up to SLC from AZ. Husband has work there for a few days. While he is at work I wanted to get a feel for SLC and surrounding areas. We're thinking in the next 2 years or so we will be moving to the area. I think this is where he will be working 440 West 200 South. Any good neighborhoods near there maybe a 15 to 20 minute commute? I am trying to get a feel for housing prices near his work. Any info will help!

It sounds like your husband is going to be working in the downtown area. There are so many different neighborhoods for you to choose from with a 15-20 minute commute. I personally don't live in the Salt Lake valley, I'm up in Heber on the other side of the Wasatch Mountains, so I'm not exactly sure how the neighborhoods in the area have grown. Rose Park area is kinda sketchy, Avenues decent, there is the new City Creek development opening that has condos, Harvard/Yale is pricey but beautiful older homes/neighborhood, Sugarhouse is nice. There are just so many different areas, maybe someone that lives down in the SL valley can chime in with better info.

There is a bunch of great places to live up north of Salt Lake City too. When you look in the Salt Lake Valley, the commute can be horrible because there is very little in terms of city-surface access to the highways. My drive to SLC is much shorter than people living in the south end of the SL Valley. Park City is pretty sweet--and would get my vote--if you can afford it.

I've lived in Park City, the East Bench (Cove), the Avenues and currently Millcreek. All would get my vote and none are too far from downtown, although PC can get to be an expensive commute.
