If Poughkeepsie (spelling?) opens up I get the vibe that we might change a trail to do that one.

An official apology to all those that cannot attend this year due to work, or previous engagements. Threads like this are a bummer to read if you feel like you're missing out, and believe me, the way we're going to party this year, you just might be

I am really hoping to be there.... just trying to figure out my schedule asap.

I went in 2008, but missed last year due to a lay-off. The week of the summit was horrible last year. I couldn't stop thinking about it the whole time. It was like a relief feeling when it was finally over.

The summit is where I met Greg (SKIBUMM) for the first time, I think we were the only Utah guys there that year and we randomly signed up for the same trail the first day. We rode with a bunch of hardcore kids from the 702 crew (Las Vegas FJ's). It was interesting.

Ouray is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

ha ha hardcore kids.... I am a kid to most of you old parent-aged guys. I am really excited to see Ouray- and from what I understand it isn't super "hardcore" wheeling.. is that correct?

That is kind of the joke between Greg & I. The trails are not at all gnarly, but we got to the trail head and our trail leader (a girl with something to prove I guess), asks me looking at my tires "So did you have to decide between buying new tires and coming to the summit?" I was caught off guard by the question because I had heard that it was just one step harder than driving up state street to the capitol building.

Then she announced "Okay, lets all air down, we've got a guy with stock tires so we'll have to watch him." She went on like that most of the day until my wife and Greg started mocking her by loudly conversing about how they couldn't believe I made it with stock tires!

I think I lost traction once on some wet rocks, backed up about a foot and took a different line. We even did the optional "Obstacles" with no issues. The Dunlops with 1/2 tread did fine the whole weekend.

The summit is a really good time, and really fun off-roading. My wife stresses about being next to cliffs, so she is less scared in Moab. (I don't think she is planning on joining me in Ouray this year)

Edit: I got stressed in Ouray on some of the dirt roads. A convoy of 15 FJ's going 50 down a dirt road flying blind is not my idea of a safe feeling. I trust my driving, I just don't trust everyone else's.

Good News bad news,
Bad news is my fishing trip to AK is cancelled because my dad got a new job and is moving to Moscow Russia. Good news is now I have the Summit week open. I think I'm going!

That is some up and down news.

Due to a new addition to my family I wont be able to make it to the FJ Cruiser Summit this year. My wife is expecting in September and I can't justify the money, time and trip because of this exciting new addition to my family. (its a boy, we are naming him Cannon, my daughter is way excited for a little brother).

That being said I am still SUPER DISAPPOINTED! I want to go so badly!

So if anyone is kind enough to help me out with the SWAG from the summit I would completely appreciate it. I would offer any services I have if someone would grab an extra bit of swag for me, or if there is something I need to buy at the summit (accessories, badges, or anything sweet) let me know and I can give you the cash for the purchase.
